Customers facing closed doors
More than one out of ten job advertisements in the occupational area is directed towards retail sales personnel. This is the second highest level since the survey began.
Hospitality was affected more deeply by the pandemic than almost any other industry. Pandemic-related restrictions are over, however restaurant owners continue to feel the aftereffects. Guests are facing closed doors more often, or have to go home earlier. Due to a lack of staff, some restaurants are shortening their business hours. They most often post positions for service and reception employees, although the number of such postings is lower than in the previous year. Restaurant specialists and waiters, in contrast, are seeing increased demand.
Childcare and child education workers were in higher demand than ever before in 2021. The number of open positions in such areas has dropped, but remains above the pre-pandemic level. Some daycare centers are reducing their open hours due to the shortfalls.
There is once again more work for home and building cleaning staff, since large buildings are open to the public once again. The drop in healthcare and nursing professions is seen across multiple disciplines; it was more significant only among physician assistants.
